Chapter 21

After they all had dinner, Felix and Mercedes excused themselves to go on their run as planned. While they were in the garden, Felix asked Mercedes to go for a run in wolf form. She was reluctant at first since she only transformed once under duress, but Felix convinced her that he would show her how to do it. So she agreed and that is what they were going to do. Felix grabbed an overnight backpack with blankets and some snacks. Mercedes was confused as to what it was for and Felix told her that they would not return until morning. She was still not aware of where they would spend the night, but she just went along with it since he seemed to already have everything planned out.

He held her hand and led her out, and they made their way to the edge of the forest. Not many people were around, just a few people loitering here and there enjoying the chilly but calm evening.
