Chapter 36
Days go by, and Mireya’s words ring in my head. I am at her house.
It’s clear to me that I can’t go back to the house. It’s a dangerous place right now, and I don’t want to take unnecessary risks, so I have to look for a ranch away from the city, the noise, and everything that used to be normal. And far from Mireya’s. Now that Don Braulio is calm, it’s time to act.
I spend a whole day looking at properties until I find one that I like. It’s a new hacienda; it doesn’t even have a name. It is much smaller than Mireya’s; it only has seven hectares of land. It is a humble, two-story house. It has a large living room, dining room, and kitchen downstairs, with a toilet and, of course, a large patio with a swimming pool. The upstairs has five bedrooms and three full bathrooms. I close the deal with the owner, we sign the papers, and I pay him. It wasn’t cheap, but I’m happy with my purchase.
I take Sofia and take her to what will be her new home.
