Phoenix is pulling at the collar of his shirt. “Do I have to wear this?”
I look away from Faith’s hair and smile at how cute he looks in his little tux.
“It’s a fancy party,” I remind him. “Fancy parties call for fancy clothes.”
Phoenix scowls and points to Faith. “What is she wearing?”
“Faith will be wearing a dress,” I answer for her, knowing she won’t.
It has been a month since I brought her home, and it hasn’t been easy. On several occasions, we have caught her trying to run away. She barely speaks, and when she does, it is in strange riddles. Lights flicker when she gets too emotional, and shadows grow when she is angry.
The pack doctors have suggested everything from wolfsbane to silver, but I won’t torture her. One even had the nerve to suggest putting her in an institution.
