Many events unfolded in an unexpected manner at the sanctuary in the absence of Shawn's oversight. Scarlett needed to assume complete accountability for both his position and her own. No one could match his skills in that role, so she chose not to find a substitute while he was away. It simply was not a possibility. She acted to the best of her ability, adhering to Zachary's suggestions, and postponed the remaining tasks until the following day. 

She collaborated closely with Debby, and the beta turned out to be far more beneficial than she had anticipated initially. Bringing her onto the team was the correct decision.
