Book 1: Chapter 45

Maria had fallen asleep in the parlor after being on the phone with Alejandro for close to thirty minutes talking about what was going on in Saviano's estate and how the preparation for the hunt game was going. 

She nearly fell from the couch when she heard a loud bang followed by the sound of what seemed to be a gunshot. She sat up instantly, her eyes widened as she scanned the living room, wondering if she had been dreaming. 

She reached for her phone to check what the time was and to find out from the security guards outside if everything was alright. As she reached for her phone, the door suddenly opened and a man stepped inside with a gun pointed at her. 

"Drop the phone down," the man yelled at her. Maria swallowed standing upright and dropping the phone down back on the table. 

"I don't...." Maria wanted to speak but the man brought his finger to his lips shunning her. 

"Hush!" He warned. "Now, where is she?"
