"Like you said, you know how important the Lombardi connection is to me, so you should understand that Gabriella would be a better choice than you," Enzo said, no remorse in his voice at how hurtful his words sounded. 

Enzo wanted Aleida to know her place, she meant nothing to him, yes, he could fuck her if needed but she could never hold a place in his heart. 

She was too desperate, and in this world, the desperate ones were always the first to get killed. In Gabriella's case, she was unpredictable, it wouldn't be easy for his enemies to have a hold on her and she was now the heiress of Lombardi's family, not Aleida.

If the situation was different, and she was the only daughter of Lombardi, Enzo still wouldn't have considered her. He would have gone for another family entirely that were better than Lombardi. 

"You don't love her, you don't even know her, she could be a fraud, she could just be out to use you," Aleida said trying to justify her
