Book 1: Chapter 75
Gabriella's eyes met his and she swallowed slowly, her hands intertwined in front of her. Enzo stared at her for a moment, taking in her new appearance, he could see behind the makeup on her face that she was still weak, and drained from everything.
He remembered how she had fainted in his arms when he had rescued her, he always believed nothing terrified him, but that single moment terrified him. The thought of her dying terrified him and he hated it.
He ran his fingers through his hair snapping out of his thoughts, he walked over to the table and poured himself and Gabriella a drink, and he walked back to the bed offering her the glass. "Here, drink this," he said softly. "It'll help you relax."
Gabriella took the glass with trembling hands, looking up at him with gratitude. "Thank you," she whispered.
He nodded, sitting down on the edge of the bed beside her. "I didn't mean to scare you, I told you I hate it when other men touch you."
