My sharp voice reverberated inside the room. I couldn’t stop my discontent when I saw her here. Cassendra got up from her seat elegantly, folding the magazine midway. She shrugged before telling me,
“You were late. As a family member, I had to stay with him. Don’t sound so offended! It was you who put him in this condition.”
“GET OUT!” I let out a low growl, pointing at the door behind us. She scoffed back in return and left, trotting on her high heels. After the door was shut from outside, I gazed at the man who had been an important part of my life. I hated to see him this weak and vulnerable. His white hospital gown gave off a shabby look. He didn’t look this weak even when my parents were killed overnight. I didn’t even see him, shedding tears for a second. In my heart, he was always the hero who faced each storm gladly.
