Chapter 71

As he lay on his bed to sleep, all he could think about was Kathryn. She was hiding a lot from him, and it hurt him to know this. He ran his fingers through his hair as he got off his bed. Where could she have gotten those injuries from? It was fine if she didn’t trust him enough to actually tell him things; he didn’t have a problem with it, but what he wasn’t fine with were those injuries.

What sort of monster would do that to her? Whoever it was, they surely didn’t have any conscience to be willing to do something like that to her. He took a deep inhale. It was raining, and it was very cold.

He knew he couldn’t go to sleep without making sure she was fine, but then she was in the rain, and from what he had come to know about her, she really loved being in the rain. He sighed, "I just hope whatever you’re hiding from me won’t ruin our friendship, Kathryn. I’ve gone through betrayal a lot in life, and it has even come from family. I won’t be able to take it if the woman
