Chapter 157. Drunk Deception
The golden glow of the late afternoon sun casts a warm, tranquil ambiance over Claire's opulent living room, illuminating the rich textures of the Persian rug underfoot and the gleaming surfaces of antique furniture.
Claire sits, enveloped by the soft, luxurious cushions of her velvet sofa while cradling a delicate porcelain teacup in her manicured hands. The intricate floral patterns on the surface of the cup catch the soft light filtering through the expansive, floor-to-ceiling windows.
However, the serenity of the space is abruptly shattered by the sharp ping of an incoming email on her phone. The sound slices through her eardrums like a knife, causing her to tense.
“What the heck!” She had put her phone on silent mode so why would it beep?
Curiosity, mingled with a hint of dread, pushes her to set down her teacup gently and pick up her phone. Then her perfectly shaped brows furrow as she reads the subject line: "We know your secret."
