Chapter 33. Firm Eyes
“I need this wedding shifted closer,” Michael states, his tanned hand gripping the glass of liquor, hard enough that his veins protrude.
“Why the haste, Michael Watson?” Rose inquires of him, her attention piqued. “We have already pushed the wedding closer, yet you want it tomorrow?”
“Not necessarily, but yes, I would appreciate that if possible.”
Rose bursts into a hearty laughter, her red lips glistening from the pillars of light flooding the room from the roof-to-floor windows beside her. Michael has always been loud about his need to marry Lara as soon as possible. Today, his request seems to have been spurned by something. His face remains stern until Rose's laughter wanes.
“Alright Michael, I hear you.” She muses.
“As you can see, Lara is hesitant. If we waste too much time, I’m afraid she will back out.” He complains, and downs the remainder of his drink, grimacing with watery eyes from the sting of the hot liquid as it travels down his thro
