Chapter 40. Ready Player One

In a luxurious enclave shrouded in an air of tension, Rose and Michael sit across each other with a round mahogany table in between. They pore over the documents spread out before them, a no-nonsense expression spread over their conduct.

Both are clad in all-black clothes, a tradition prevalent with the Elites in an all-important business setting.

The light of the desk lamp casts long shadows across the room, lending an eerie atmosphere to their clandestine meeting.

"We need to get to the bottom of this," Rose begins, she scans the pages before her with her round, rimless glasses hanging on her nose bridge. "We can't let this information get out."

Michael nods in agreement, his brow furrowed with concern as he reads the contents of the documents as well. "I cannot believe Lara would keep something like this from me," he laments. “I'm sure she knows how important this wedding is to both our families."
