Elizabeth’s POV
I scrambled to my feet, chest tightening with every breath. He remained poised, expression hardened into a scowl that deepened when I met his gaze. A cold wind swept across the graveyard, rattling the branches overhead, and I shivered despite myself. How had he found me so quickly? I had been certain no one could see me here—not a single soul.
Without a word, he turned away and strode back toward the gate, his long coat flaring behind him. I followed, silent and hesitant, dreading the moment he might seize me by the arm and drag me along. Fear crowded my mind so completely that I forgot my desperate search for the bracelet. All I could think about was what awaited me next.
