Chapter 171. Sealed by a Kiss
He stood between the wolves and me, voice low and commanding. “She’s my mate,” he told the pack.
“Alpha,” one of them growled, bowing. “We did not know.”
“Now you do. Disperse.” He flicked a hand, and the wolves melted back into the darkness. Within seconds, I was alone with him.
I shivered, clutching his coat around me. Relief and terror warred in my veins. Kaden’s chest rose and fell in the cold air. He hadn’t shifted—his clothes were intact. He was standing there in human form, stronger than any wolf.
“Why did you stop running from them?” he asked quietly, eyes dark as storm clouds. The cool night air turned his breath into ghosts that drifted between us.
I swallowed, trying to steady my voice. “I panicked. I didn’t know what else to do.”
