Chapter 40. No More Chances

Selena could hear everything that was happening from outside. Her heart was pounding in her chest and she felt like she couldn’t breathe as she waited.

That was all she could do though…wait.

She couldn’t even pray because she didn’t believe in the Moon goddess anymore, so all she truly could do was wait.

The nurse stuck her key into the door and turned it, it unlocked. Then she wrapped her hand around the cold doorknobs and twisted it before pushing the door.

And right as the door began to open, Selena grabbed the doorknob from her side and held it as tight as she could, her breathing heavy and deep.

“It’s not…” The nurse kept trying to open the door but was met with resistance. “It’s not opening.” She finally gave up, letting go.

Selena had shifted a bit to be able to use some of the strength of her wolf. She was glad she had done this or the door would have for sure opened if she had not had help.
