Chapter 48. School Is Over

“Oh my god,” Selena said to herself, her voice low and under her breath. Then she looked away from the phone screen and flashed her friend a small smile. “Thank you.”

Cat nodded slowly, suspicion in her eyes. “Why did you want me to do that? Isn’t that the guy who rejected you? Are you trying to beat yourself up by reminding yourself about what you lost? Because if that’s the case then that’s really unhealthy.”

The omega was tempted to explain the situation to her friend but decided against it. So she just shook her head before replying, “No, I just…I already knew his net worth, I just wanted to see if he was worth even more after the rejection, you know?” She lied, flashing a small smile that was forced, but she was trying very hard for it to appear as natural.

The red-haired girl nodded, taking the words in. She was now less suspicious and less worried, and even if the omega was lying to her right now, she figured it’d be for a good reason so she didn’t push it.
