Chapter 3
"Hand me the phone for a look!"
Uriah took the phone, opened the first photo, which showed Maegan stepping out of the dormitory, capturing Theophilus's surprised and delighted expression.
"Damn it, they're in love, my brother is truly useless!"
Uriah became enraged. He looked at the second photo and was shocked to see a respectful man standing behind Maegan’s rumored boyfriend.
"It's over!"
Though Uriah didn't know Theophilus, he recognized Magnus standing behind him. He had met Magnus a few times, but given his own status, he hadn't spoken much to Magnus. Now, in Radiant Harbor, who wouldn't respect Magnus? Offending Magnus meant no more wheeling and dealing in Radiant Harbor.
The relationship between Magnus and the head of the Radiant Harbor Chamber of Commerce, Isidore, was excellent. Normally, there were many things their company couldn't get past the Chamber of Commerce.
Moreover, there were rumors that behind Magnus and Isidore stood another significant figure. No one in all of Empyria dared disrespect that person.
The female star, still by his side, whispered softly: "Director Lippman, that Maegan girl really doesn't listen at all. Freeze her out for a while, teach her a good lesson! Can someone else play the lead in Maegan’s next movie?"
After speaking, she hugged Uriah's arm and rubbed against it a few times.
These past months, Maegan had become very famous, causing many in the entertainment industry to turn green with envy.
"Slap!"
The female star had just finished speaking when Uriah pulled his hand away and slapped her hard.
"Director Lippman, why did you hit me?"
The female star held her face and rolled on the bed, asking in disbelief.
"If you speak ill of Maegan one more time, do you believe I will kill you?" Uriah stood up, pointed at the female star, and said menacingly.
He harbored a thought: if Magnus showed such reverence, could Maegan's rumored boyfriend actually be the legendary big shot?
He felt incredibly lucky. Fortunate that his brother had taken a liking to Maegan, for with his temperament, he would have forced the issue long ago. Otherwise, the Lippman family would have vanished from this world.
Uriah hastily dressed himself, shouting: "Where's my brother? Where’s my mobile phone?"
Uriah felt a profound fear.
Although Maegan had a bit of a reputation and could earn some money for the company, her cold demeanor did not endear her to the company insiders, and many senior managers were displeased with her, even her father had voiced his concerns.
"If it weren't for the little money she could bring in, I would have frozen her activities long ago." were Uriah's father's exact words.
Reflecting now, he realized it wasn't her coldness; it was confidence.
"If I had known earlier that her boyfriend came from such a prominent family, wouldn’t I have supported her long ago?" Uriah slapped his thigh, suddenly remembering his brother Rafael. He hit his thigh harder as the starlet hurriedly handed him his phone.
"Damn, not answering the phone at a time like this!"
No one picked up, and Uriah quickly dialed another number.
"What, my younger brother is at the film academy? Stop him quick, don’t let him cause trouble, or we're all dead!"
…
At that time, Amethyst also arrived at the café alone, having left the film set in a hurry after receiving a call.
As soon as Amethyst walked into the café, her eyes lit up upon seeing Theophilus. She slowly ran over to him and whispered: "Cousin!"
"Amethyst!"
Both Maegan and Jodie were stunned. Amethyst was even more famous at Radiant Harbor Film Academy than Maegan. Originally a gifted student abroad, she chose to continue her studies at Radiant Harbor after returning home.
With resources from the Walker family, she had built a resounding reputation in the film industry.
"You're here, have a seat!"
Theophilus nodded, and Amethyst Walker sat down beside him, curiosity flickering in her eyes. She had thought Theophilus was there to meet her, but to her surprise, he was meeting two beauties at the café.
Could it be that his feelings for his sister-in-law were no longer as deep? If so, did that mean she also had a chance?
With this thought, Amethyst's eyes sparkled.
While Theophilus and the Maegan group chatted in the café, Rafael Lippman entered the shop with a dozen brash followers.
"Rafael Lippman is here!"
As soon as Jodie saw Rafael, she was startled and quickly winked at Maegan.
She knew Rafael was not a decent person. He had pursued a senior at their school while she had a boyfriend. The boyfriend ended up with a broken arm and, fearing Rafael, had no choice but to break up with her.
Maegan frowned and then turned to look at Theophilus, only Amethyst remained nonchalant, as if the Lippman family was nothing to fuss about.
Seeing this, Theophilus casually said: "It's okay!"
"Rafael, what are you doing here?"
Maegan spoke to him with a furrowed brow, knowing Rafael was here because of her. She didn’t want to involve Theophilus, despite knowing he had some influence; after all, Sunset Valley Entertainment was a globally influential company.
"Maegan, you've made quite a mess, the company is in a difficult position. Ms. Trieu called me several times, asking me to advise you. You're at a critical point in your career, how could you afford such a scandal? You should clarify this on Weibo, and then we can go back to the office to sort this out." Rafael said, feigning concern.
"Right, is this man your boyfriend? I'm sure you know the difference between you and Maegan; he's not worthy of you. It would be best if you take the initiative to contact the press to correct the rumors, otherwise don’t blame me for using some nasty tricks on him!" Rafael looked at Theophilus with an unkind attitude.
