Chapter 4
"Rafael, my affairs are none of your concern, and don't call me Maegan!" Maegan stood up abruptly, her voice cold.
"This isn't about whether you care or not, Maegan. Think carefully, you've signed a contract with the company. You're not allowed to be involved in any scandals for five years, and now you might as well have breached the contract!" Rafael's eyes flickered with impatience as he continued: "You should realize, if you offend me, you’ll never shine in the entertainment industry again!"
"If you knew I couldn't be involved in scandals, then why keep following me around? I remember the last time I was embroiled in a scandal was because of you!" Maegan stared at Rafael and spoke icily.
"Maegan, don’t refuse the wine that's offered, drink the wine that's forced!"
Rafael could no longer hold back. He couldn’t believe Maegan, just a singer, dared to be so arrogant in front of him. Did she really think he loved her?
"Do you believe that with just one word from me, you will never get another movie role in your life, and that useless boyfriend of yours could be dead?"
"Who are you calling useless?"
Amethyst suddenly slammed the table and stood up.
Rafael could insult others, but insulting her cousin Theophilus was unacceptable.
"Amethyst!"
Rafael frowned, he had been so focused on Maegan and her rumored boyfriend that he hadn't paid attention to Amethyst. The Walker family was not insignificant, although not from Radiant Harbor, the Walker family had been thriving recently, and the Lippman family did not want to provoke a conflict with them.
"Ms. Walker, this is a private matter for our Sunset Valley company. I hope you don’t interfere, I think we have a lot of opportunities for collaboration!"
Rafael looked at Amethyst, who radiated confidence, and although the Walker family was powerful, if Amethyst wanted to make it in the entertainment industry, his Sunset Valley company was a barrier she couldn't simply bypass.
"What if I have to get involved?" Amethyst said coldly.
"Then don’t blame me for not being polite!" Rafael retorted with a cold laugh, speaking bluntly.
Jodie sat watching them, feeling extremely anxious.
She looked at Theophilus, annoyed to see him calm and collected, especially after he had just promised to help Maegan become the top star in the world, and now he didn’t even have the courage to speak up, nothing compared to Amethyst’s bravery.
'No, after this is settled, I must not let Maegan meet this fraudster again, damn it!'
As Jodie was making this inner vow, suddenly the café door burst open, and in hurried Uriah.
"Brother, why are you here?"
Rafael's eyes widened in surprise at the sight of Uriah.
As Rafael looked on in astonishment, Uriah quickly walked up to Theophilus and knelt down, pleading loudly:
"I am Uriah of the Lippman family greeting Young Master Alexander, please forgive me, Young Master Alexander!"
He had just gathered information from within the family and learned that this man might be the legendary Young Master Alexander, so young yet so profoundly unfathomable.
The atmosphere in the place immediately fell silent, Rafael stared at Uriah in surprise, his face stiffening.
The café was quiet as a grave.
Young Master Lippman, Rafael, was quite famous in school, and it seemed that Maegan's rumored boyfriend had run into bad luck, but unexpectedly, Uriah, the brother of Young Master Lippman, had arrived and was now kneeling in front of Maegan’s rumored boyfriend.
"Brother, what are you doing, get up!"
Rafael struggled to speak, hoping his brother had mistaken the person.
The fact that someone as proud as his brother was kneeling to beg for forgiveness showed just how powerful this young man must be.
Jodie and Maegan were instantly shocked; Rafael was merely a rich family’s darling, but Uriah was different. He was the current CEO of the entertainment company Sunset Valley, known among many outside friends and considered a leading young master in Radiant Harbor, yet here he was, kneeling before Theophilus.
This scene took Maegan by surprise; she had always thought that although her father had some influence in Radiant Harbor, it was just small-scale business, but now she realized she had underestimated her father. If it were just small-scale, how could the CEO of Sunset Valley Entertainment kneel before Theophilus?
“Oh?”
Theophilus looked at the man kneeling on the ground, and casually asked: "Do you know me?”
Rafael bowed his head deeply, whispering: "Of course, I am not worthy to know Young Master Alexander, but I was fortunate to meet Magnus a few times at parties, and moreover, there are many legends about Young Master Alexander spread throughout Radiant Harbor."
Although he hurried here, he was still a step late; just by seeing the scene inside, he knew immediately that Rafael had offended Theophilus, which is why he knelt down without hesitation to apologize first, hoping Young Master Alexander would appreciate his recognition of the mistake and forgive his brother this time.
Boom!
Rafael's head buzzed, the mention of Young Master Alexander stirring unease in his heart, a name that used to echo among the elite in Radiant Harbor, feeling like thunderclap to his ears. How many leaders of major powers had vanished, how many forces had crumbled overnight.
Now Rafael began to stagger, his legs trembling—if it really was the person he was thinking of, then even if that person killed him today, no one would dare avenge him.
"If you know it's me, then you should also know the consequences of offending me."
Theophilus tapped his fingers lightly on the table, each tap resonating like a thud straight to Uriah and Rafael's hearts.
Rafael could not endure any longer; he collapsed to the ground, his voice trembling: "Young Master Alexander, it was my blindness that did not see the mountain; I didn’t know Maegan was your girlfriend, please forgive me this time, Sunset Valley Corporation will do everything possible to make amends to Young Master Alexander."
