How could David go and make a mistake like that? Forgetting my suitcase on a business trip that mattered this much? The man was someone I could count on almost all of the time, practically 99% of the time, but of course it had to be that one single percent that showed up now, and it always seemed to be the one percent that ended up mattering the most.
I let out a slow sigh, leaning back and staring out through the window of the taxi that had come to pick me up from the airport there in Rome. As if leaving the suitcase behind had not been bad enough already, I had just come to the realization that the main event was not even being held in Rome at all. It was in Florence.
Fluorescence? No, not that. Florence. Whatever.
I pinched the bridge of my nose between my fingers and let out a soft groan.
“This is exactly why I should have taken the time to double-check every single one of the details myself,” I muttered under my breath.
