The next morning, we were on our way to meet Alpha Denver Craig of the Wolf Creek Howlers Pack. The drive took us almost an hour, but Cerelia was exceptionally quiet all the way. She looked upset and I couldn’t gauge the cause. Ever since she woke up, she had been quiet. Was she repenting last night? Was she repenting my mark on her neck? 

Why couldn’t I read her easily? How did she learn to block me out? Or was she quiet because of Jefferson’s presence? 

He offered to help us, and I didn’t decline. It wasn’t safe to search for the Silver wolves alone. Jefferson was knowledgeable, and together, we could protect Cerelia better in case we were attacked. I had to be prepared. In our shifter world, we couldn’t trust any other pack apart from our own.
