Chapter 69
Danica’s POV
A soft groan escaped my lips as I ran my hand through the bed with my eyes still shut, expecting to feel someone, something, anything warm. But I didn’t, and the empty and cold feeling made me force my eyes open even though I wasn’t mentally ready to be awake.
As expected, Alexander wasn’t beside me. Again.
And this time, the empty sting of disappointment lingered in the pit of my stomach and for some reason unknown to me, the usual optimism I always felt when I didn’t find him right beside me in the morning when we spent the night together was suddenly gone for good.
To think, he’d been gone for a while. The side of the bed where he must have slept wasn’t even rumpled.
‘Or maybe he didn’t even sleep beside you at all,’ a voice muttered in my head and I felt my breath hitch. But this time, I remained composed, my expression as calm as a certified killer.
“Are you trying to mess with me? Where would he sleep if not here?” I aske
