Danica’s POV

“Anabel… is something wrong? Did something happen?” I asked again, more sternly this time, but then she looked me dead in the eye, plastered a half-hearted smile all over her face, then shook her head slowly.

“Why? Is it so weird and uncalled for that I just want to know these things? Do I sound crazy to you? Because that is exactly the face you’re giving me right now, Danica,” she blurted at once and I blinked hard.

“Well, I’m sorry you think I’m looking at you like you suddenly went berserk but that is exactly what I’ll think if you can’t give me solid reasons why you’re suddenly curious about my past and present love life,” I threw back in the same tone and she nodded twice, forcing her expression to be neutral before she eventually muttered;

“Yeah, I understand. I shouldn’t have asked.”
