Chapter 7. A Toast to Deception
Arriving at the restaurant Morgan had recommended proved to be the easiest task amidst the whirlwind of the past twenty-four hours. Silas and I opted for silence, knowing there were many discussions to be had, but deciding that tonight was not the night.
As we stood before the restaurant's entrance, a question weighed on my mind, and I couldn't hold it back any longer. "Did you wear the ring?" I asked Silas, anxious for his response.
He retrieved his hand from his pocket, presenting the ring in his open palm, and nodded reassuringly, "Of course I did." He then inquired about my ring, and I showed him my hand with the ring as well.
Once inside, the ambiance enveloped us with unique scents and the soothing melodies of classical jazz. The restaurant's interior was as enchanting as its exterior, adorned with intricate minimalist paintings, bathed in the glow of glistening lights, emanating an aura of luxurious elegance.
