Chapter 19. Each One's Secret Desire

Eliza, from the balcony of her chamber, watched them frolicking naked, and when she went down to complain to her husband about their shamelessness, she was already entering the throne room when she overheard his conversation with Onis.

She turned back, hating Moses and envying his concubines. Nothing she did seemed to affect those damn women! She would start gathering jewels as her father had ordered her. She was no longer finding a way to captivate Moses. He always seemed distant during the day. She had to do something. And when Moses was in her hands she would get rid of each of them, but first, she would inflict painful punishment on all of them for causing trouble and for having shared her husband with her.

When they arrived exhausted from the ride, their maids were waiting for them with a hot bath, followed by a nice meal. That night, they all slept happily with a sense of freedom.
