Chapter 269. Mary's Pregnancy

In the morning, Mary felt a strange, uncomfortable nausea. She went to the toilet and put her finger down her throat to get rid of whatever was making her sick, but nothing came out. She changed quietly and went up to the tower.

She passed by her parents' quarters to do so, she was very anxious for fear of waking them, but this didn't happen and she reached Alfred's quarters without any major problems. He was already awake and pacing the length of the room. Mary was pleased to see how he had progressed since the day he had arrived. He was completely healthy.

He stopped as soon as he noticed her and greeted her with a smile.

"Mary? What are you doing here so early?"

"Alfred... I'm not feeling well." She had time to say before she fainted.

Mary woke up to a smell burning her nostrils and saw Alfred with a wad of absorbent cotton in his nose. She raised her hand and repelled him. He immediately removed the pad and
