When they stepped into the ballroom, she was awed beyond measure. Her lips parted slightly at the magnanimity of the room, the place was packed full of different people and they were all beautifully dressed, matching the occasion.
"Wow," She scoffed, amazed at the decor, "This place is wonderful."
Alex hummed in agreement, patting the back of her palm lightly. As they walked into the room, more and more people began to notice them and she suddenly felt self-conscious. She knew why Alex decided to forego his mask for the meantime but she wished he had worn it. That way they could blend into the background and enjoy the evening like a normal couple.
But nothing about this was normal. Nothing about them was.
"Alexander!" Someone called loudly from the crowd. Maya spotted a woman sauntering towards them, a large smile on her ruby-coloured lips. Alex gently peeled his arm off Maya to wrap them around the woman.
