Book 3: My Father’s No More
Anacá's POV
He drove on with a grim look instead of answering me. I fumed at his insensitivity. Couldn’t he just tell me? I couldn’t drive the sinking feeling away. Something was terribly wrong. Why weren’t we going to the hospital where dad was admitted?
He drove on towards Josh’s house and parked his car. “Come on.” He opened the door for me, but I stormed out towards the front porch. I wanted nothing to do with Eros Nikolaou. If anything happened to my dad, I would break all connection with him.
He followed me and rang the doorbell. In my disturbed state, I had forgotten to even knock. The door opened and Uncle Jeremy gave me a haunted look. “Oh, you’re here. Come inside.”
He led us inside while my eyes sought my dad. He usually sat in the living room recliner here in Uncle Jeremy’s house. It was his favorite place. But today, the recliner was vacant. There was no sign of my dad.
