Book 3: My Dream Job
Anacá's POV
It had been almost ten days since I lost my dad. But my life had come to a standstill. I would have lost the will to live had Lucy not been there. Last night, Aunt Dana insisted I have dinner with them. I had completely forgotten, but Josh arrived to pick me up and then dropped me off. It was surprising he took so much interest in me. He hadn’t done so much in the last eighteen months of my association with him.
Yet it didn’t cheer me up. After my dad’s death, I drifted apart from the Hemmingway family as well. With Jess busy dating someone she met last week, I was now totally alone.
I had stopped looking for a job, even. What was the use? No one wanted me.
My phone buzzed with an incoming call from an unknown number. But I had no wish to talk to anyone. I left the phone on the sofa and went out to the balcony. The evening breeze cooled my face, and I closed my eyes to feel the fresh air against my skin.
