The fear in her eyes dampened my spirits. Did I destroy her trust in me? I would have to regain it if I wanted a future with her. Yes, I still wanted everything with her. There was no other for me.
I planted a kiss on her forehead and retreated to my side. “Go to sleep, Anacá. I won’t force myself on you ever again. That’s my promise to you.”
She nodded and released a staggering sigh. “Good night.” I watched her turn her back to me to feign sleep. She dismissed me, and I lost another chance to make it up to her and touch her soul. But I couldn’t do this forcefully. I needed her readiness to accept me back into her life. Maybe I would wait for her forgiveness, even if it took me forever.
