Maddox leaned closer, close enough to smell her sweetness. From so close, he could feel the heat from her body, and it drove him crazy. It took every ounce of his strength to stop himself from pulling her into his arms. Her hands trembled as she served him. It was clear she was more affected by his nearness than she showed.
It made his body throb with need. Couldn’t she guess how much he wanted her?
“You have no reason to feel jealous of Camille. She’s my sibling.” His eyes sparkled with amusement as he took in her flushed cheeks. Why did he feel so satisfied with her reaction? It meant only one thing – she was jealous of Camille. His face broke into a smirk as he regarded her intently.
“Oh, you’re mistaken, Mr. Laurier.” She placed a hand over her lips like he had shocked and embarrassed her. “I’m not in a position to feel jealous of the women in your life.” Her cheeks colored, and she evaded his gaze, proving how bad she was at lying.
