Book 5: Rejected?
She froze and turned to give him a wide-eyed look. “K-kitchen, Mr. Laurier.” But he looked angrier. “Um, to make your dinner.” Would that pacify him?
“I don’t need dinner. Clean my room first.” He gripped her hand and pulled her towards the staircase.
Iris’s heart leaped to her throat as she almost ran to keep up with him. Why did he want her in his bedroom? Would he force himself on her? Was that her punishment? Fear gripped her heart, but she couldn’t do a thing. She had signed the agreement, and he had already fulfilled his side of the deal. Now it was her turn to keep her promise to him.
He unlocked his bedroom door and swung it open for her to enter. Iris walked in meekly and stood before him with her eyes cast downward. She had committed a grave crime in invading his privacy. Now it was time to pay the price.
“Don’t just stand here. Get down to work.”
