Chapter 34. The Different
The meeting of the gods and goddesses on Mount Olympus resulted in a great decision. Zeus created Paramour in the sixth century, recorded as the archaic period in Ancient Greece.
The reference to the creation of Paramour was none other than the two major cities that held opposing systems of government, namely Polis Sparta and Polis Athens.
The Spartans were war-mad people who loved to conquer the surrounding areas. They defeated Messenia, Arkadia, and Argos and thus made Sparta the ruling power in Peloponnesus. Sparta practiced an oligarchic system, with two kings who shared passion, five ephors who held considerable power, and the grouse, a council of elders.
Meanwhile, the Athenians adopted a democratic system in which supreme power rested with the People’s Council. Governance was carried out by nine Archons, who changed every year. Paramour adopted the Athenian Polis system because they were more advanced than Sparta.
