Chapter 36. Over the Top

Logan read one by one the thoughts of the nine Archons. Their beliefs were similar. They were all considering Madam’s idea, which benefitted Paramour’s creatures.

It was a challenge to reuse the Spartan Polis system but modernly. The Archons were almost of one mind: it was enough to hide from the outside world. But before that, they had to scramble to fill the available positions. Only five seats.

Logan’s stomach tugged violently at the thought of the Archons fighting. His forehead hit the table, and he woke up where he had been, where Azeeva’s tears had dried up.
