Chapter 78. Unveiled Intentions

Caroline's POV

I looked at him, trying to read his expression, but he looked blank. After he relayed the message, he just stared at me curiously.

"So, what do you intend to do?" His voice finally sounded normal.

"I don't know for now," I responded, looking unfazed by the news. What was he expecting me to do? I had no plan to involve myself with him after what he did, and I found it rather confusing that he thought of sharing that news with me. I didn't really need to know about what was going on or what was going to happen.

I had no interest nor did I wish to take part in whatever was about to happen. If Jackson was in danger, then it was not in my place to protect him. I had other responsibilities to do and people to cater for. He could protect himself, besides he had been doing that for years before he met me, so why should this make any difference?
