Chapter 85. An Alliance Under Moonlight

Caroline's POV

I could barely consider anything as I walked back to the hall. I could still remember the look in his eyes and how confused and surprised he looked. He aroused unwanted emotions inside of me, emotions I never wanted to feel. I almost panicked when he held my hand, but I emboldened myself, remembering how he had treated me months ago.

He didn't deserve my audience, so I hurried back to the hall and I felt a hand on mine. I turned to see Jenifer passing me a questioning look. She could already tell that something was wrong.

"Where have you been?" She asked worriedly.

"I went out to calm myself." I said, omitting the part where Jackson came to meet me. "Where's the rest?" I asked, realizing that there were few people missing.

"They left to attend the meeting, and you're currently running late. You should hurry and go, I'll wait for you here," she said, and I nodded before walki
