Chapter 101
Elena nodded slowly. “Okay. But promise me that we’ll go through this process together. From start to finish.”
“Okay,” Nathan said as he kissed Elena’s hand.
On the other side of town, it was getting late. At the big gate of a colonial-style house, a man got out of a black car. His shabby clothes contrasted with the grandeur of the mansion in front of him.
The man was Damian Lancaster. His face was thinner than before, but his eyes burned with ambition. He lifted his chin, looking at the house that once belonged to him—the glory days of the Lancaster family.
“This house is empty...” he murmured softly.
The fence was no longer guarded. Only dust and dried leaves had accumulated. Damian stepped inside with quiet but sure steps. He opened the front door with the old key he still kept.
Once inside, the smell of dust and old wood immediately greeted him. But Damian smiled. “This house is still standing. Like me. And like me, it will rise again.”
