Elias’s POV
Six years ago
I hated being here. I didn’t have to attend, but my father insisted I come. He said it was important, a necessary step for the company’s future.
“Sir? Would you care for some refreshments?” one of the staff members offered politely.
“No, thank you. I’m fine. Just tell your boss to come see me.”
“Yes, sir. Right away.” The attendant slipped out of the room, slowly closing the glass door behind him.
I leaned back in my chair and took in my surroundings. The Brooks family certainly committed to their theme. Their décor was lavish, but entirely not to my taste: it looked like a modern Camelot. Plush velvet furnishings, traditional lantern-style lighting fixtures, and walls adorned with sculptures that resembled melted knight’s arm
