“I… really? I wasn’t trying that hard?” I asked uncertainly, my heart still racing from our exchange. He let out a soft sigh. “Not at all.” “Ah,” I said, letting out a little laugh, “you have no idea what you just did to me there.” I moved a fraction closer to the glow of my bedside lamp, hoping the light would hide the flush on my cheeks. “Well, thank you for… accepting my apology.” “Oh, it’s my pleasure,” he replied, his tone playful. “Though I wouldn’t mind another…” I rolled my eyes and flopped down onto the edge of my bed. “Elias.” “I’m not kidding. I really wouldn’t mind.” He paused, then narrowed his eyes at the phone screen. “Are you in my room?” “Uh, yeah. I couldn’t sleep in mine. I hope you don’t mind.” “Why would I?
