Chapter 78
Anita’s POV
“I was starting to think you weren’t going to come,” I voiced out to Jay after he had arrived, as he had promised to.
The early morning air hit my skin while I sat side by side with Jay. He came quite early, and I hoped the nurses wouldn’t detect a thing.
“I am a man of my words; I keep them!”
I was really fighting hard not to have that feeling—he wasn’t someone I should be rolling with.
“So, last time, you said you wanted to know a few things; what do you wish to know?” he asked.
A lot… I actually wanted to know a lot.
“What do you think I should know?”
He scoffed.
“That you were surrounded by enemies your whole life?” he stated out of the blue, with so much seriousness.
I thought the nurse said I had friends.
“Enemies?”
“Yes, enemies, and they are closer than you think,” he said while his eyes travelled to my neck, suddenly reminding me of the necklace he gave me.
