Chapter 27

Nathan and Madison paused to the piercing, distressing shout of Lila, which emanated from the kitchen. Nathan and Madison sprang up from their seats immediately and rushed towards the kitchen.

Madison looked to Mark, who was already frightened by Lila's screams. “To your room now.”

Nathan got to the kitchen to find a hooded intruder with his arm wrapped around Lila’s neck.

“Let me go, please,” she cried out as he struggled relentlessly with her assailant.

Nathan courageously charged towards this chaotic scene to rescue Lila. He struggled vigorously until he was able to free Lila from the grip of the masked intruder. Madison then arrived to witness the struggle between the assailant and Nathan.

Madison looked on in panic as Nathan exchanged blows with the masked assailant. “Be careful, Nathan.”
