Chapter 32. Misdirection
The next day’s sky starts to turn lighter shades of blue as the Hunter slips into his coat and habitually reaches for the axe that was not there. “Looking for this?”
Enshin looks to see Alex holding out the silvered axe, which he accepts and holsters into his coat. He stands to leave the office when her cold hand grabs his good arm.
“You’re still not fully healed,” she continues, “so make sure to get plenty of rest, alright?”
The Hunter barely gives the woman a glance as he nods, and she lets go of his arm. “Farewell, Relian,” and she waves.
Enshin waits for a moment, expecting her to change her mind. No, just leave, but not too quickly. He tips his cap over his face, and he steps out of the office and down the flight of stairs, which he almost trips on as his eyes glaze over the steps and he couldn’t tell where his feet were going.
When he steps out, the man looks up at the townhouse one last time, and as he makes his way down the street the sun’s ligh
