Chapter 31. Lair of the Vampire
Alex resorts to running down the streets, her feet almost gliding over the cobbled stone. She holds Enshin tightly against her as she hears the man’s breaths become slower and shallower. The vampire slows down at her townhouse and rushes up the stairs with him. Thankfully there was no one out at two in the morning to witness this spectacle. She brings Enshin into her office and lays him on the table. “Wait here. I need to get my supplies,” the doctor instructs the Hunter, as if the man were still awake.
There was so much Alex had to do; she had to bring water to boil, clean herself up and change clothes, then treat the Hunter. She takes a deep breath. One at a time. She sets a pot on the stove and immediately checks back on Enshin, who lays with his head fallen to the side, blood running off him and onto her floor. The scent of blood makes her swoon and her mouth water, but Alex shakes it off and quickly brings over more rags to press against Enshin’s ribs.
A knock. Alex
