Chapter 36. A Broken Road
In the distance, Enshin sees a Hunter in their black coat, red scarf, and flat cap. He steps closer to see the frame of a young lad, his red hair peeking out from underneath the hat. “Kai?” Enshin asks. The boy turns his back, walking away. “Kai, wait!” The man calls as reaches for his brother, but his legs move like lead and drag him down. “Kai-” and the soft growl makes Enshin quiet. The Hunter slowly turns to see the werewolf with the white diamond at his back, its teeth buried into his legs.
The beast flips Enshin onto his back to start tearing into the man with its claws, making the Hunter cry and scream out of pain, unable to do anything but flail. He was gone. Kai was gone. He left him too. Why would he leave him? No. Kai had to leave. If he stayed he would have been killed too. That’s why Kai was killed.
