Our minds can play tricks on us.
Alcohol can be a factor, mental illness can be a factor, dehydration, starvation, fear, and there are so many more factors.
Right now, I have to believe I have one of those factors. Or was my water sp***d? I couldn’t imagine what I saw, right?
It’s impossible to comprehend.
I saw...I don’t even know what I saw in Sterling’s eyes. But I do know that I couldn’t look away, I felt like it was beckoning me more and more; calling unto me.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Sterling’s voice startles me. He has my sweater on his arm. He’s wearing a sleeveless shirt and shorts.
“Ye-yeah.” I stutter. Get yourself together, Rose!
“Okay.” He doesn’t sound convinced.
Even I’m not convinced by my own voice.
“Well, let’s go over to the lake. I have set up the most beautiful picnic! You would absolutely love it!” He says excitingly.
He looks boyish. I can’t help but smile.
