Chapter 20

“Hi, Rose.” The voice shakes my very core. The coldness causes goosebumps to rise on my entire body.

“Hello. Who am I speaking with?” My voice is collected but yet a bit shaky.

“You should know, darling,” The voice on the phone replies. It’s a lady’s voice. It’s strong and is void of any warm emotions.

I only sense evil.

“Well, I don’t. I don’t know every number on my boyfriend’s phone.” My heart is still racing, by the way.

“Your boyfriend?” She laughs out really loud.

Why is she laughing?

“Is that supposed to mean something?” I ask with annoyance in my voice.

Her laughter dies down and I hear her take in a deep breath and let it out smoothly.

“Honey...Sterling is no one’s boyfriend. I told you that he’s dangerous. Why won’t you listen?” She speaks with purpose.

“How is he? How is he dangerous?” I say while walking away from Sterling.

He walks after me. “Where are you going, Rosie?” He says. He seems very intrigued.<
