Chapter 58. Investigation

Jane stared at Brock Davenport as she struggled to ask for help, she didn’t want anything that would make her feel like she owed him.

“Jane? What’s the matter? Do you need something?” He asked as he stared back at her.

“Senior, I’m really very sorry to ask but can I use your phone? I don’t know what is wrong with mine, it’s not working.”

“My phone? You want to call your husband?”

“Yes, my phone isn’t working at all and I’m even more worried. I don’t know how he is or if he’s better now.”

Her words became more panicked as she spoke.

“Oh, I’m sorry but that isn’t possible. You can’t use my phone.”

“Eh? But… why? Did I do something wrong over the night?”

He chuckled, “No, I don’t have phone access either. My grandfather made sure of that.”

“What? No house phones either? That’s just mean, what if something happened to you in this foreign country?”

“It’s alright, he thought about all of that so I’m fine.”

“S
