She bounded to her mother in a doting and bubbly manner, “Mummy,” she gave her mother a tight hug as she recomposed herself.
“Ivy? Are you alright dear?”
See? Pretty sure she could smell emotions, she thought then held her mum at arm’s length.
“Why? Can’t I hug my own mother anymore? I’m pretty sure I’m your only child so you’re supposed to keep babying me.”
Her mother laughed at her antics and took off her reading glasses.
“Alright, alright. My only baby,” she said and squished Ivy’s cheeks.
Ivy giggled and swayed from side to side.
“Mum, I got you your favorite flowers,” she picked it off her side where she had carefully placed it and presented it to her mum with a big smile.
