Mr. Preston, who had been silent all along, suddenly reacted and took his wife into his arms, patting her back comfortingly.
He had been a witness to the mental torture his wife had suffered after losing their daughter, constantly blaming herself for losing her.
This self-blame would have almost evolved into full blown depression if it wasn’t for the timely discovery by him and his sons.
