Chapter 27. Encounter!

Mika had never felt more alone than that day. She was only one and a half months pregnant, but the responsibility of caring for her unborn child had already overwhelmed her. She'd just left the store with a basket full of baby items in her arms, attempting to manage it all as she made her way to her car. She tripped over a crack on the sidewalk and nearly fell. The basket flew out of her grasp, scattering its contents across the street. Mika's eyes welled up with sorrow as she gazed at the shambles. She had no idea how she was going to pick things up on her own. She was about to walk away when she heard a voice behind her. "Do you need some help?" asked a man's voice behind her.

Mika turned around to see a lovely guy looking at her with worry. He had dark hair and piercing blue eyes, and he was tall and slim. As she gazed at him, Mika felt a flutter in her gut.
