Chapter 65. Fears and Concerns
Mylene, Sam and Mary's daughter, came into the room, her eyes inflamed and tears flowing down her cheeks, interrupting their talk. She dashed over to them and threw herself into their embrace, looking for solace and comfort.
"Mylene, sweetheart, what's wrong?" Mary questioned; her voice concerned as she clutched her daughter.
Mylene's little voice quivered as she hiccupped. "Mommy... Daddy... scary dream," she sobbed, burying her face in Mary's shoulder.
Sam's personal distress was overshadowed by his anxiety for his daughter. His voice was kind as he drew closer to Mary and Mylene. "It's okay, sweetheart. Daddy's here. Do you want to tell us about your dream?"
Mylene sniffled and looked up at her parents, her eyes welling up. "Monsters... chasing me... I'm scared."
Mary hugged Mylene close and softly rocked her. "Oh, my brave girl, there are no monsters here. Mommy and Daddy will always protect you. You're safe with us."&n
